February: 131 & Counting held its official kickoff event with a reception celebrating the largest female class in our nation's history. Reps. Katherine Clark (D-MA) and Susan Brooks (R-IN) served as keynote speakers. The event was attended by more than 20 members of Congress and 200 senior congressional and policy professionals.
April: The group held a breakfast meeting featuring a panel of women entrepreneurs and the women Majority Deputy Staff Directors for the Senate and House Committees on Small Business.
July: 131 & Counting held a standing-room-only panel on "Women Leading the House Appropriations Committee." Appropriations Committee Chair Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) and Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-Texas) led the panel.
August: The group hosted senior congressional staffers and policy professionals to celebrate the congressional recess, network and share vacation stories.
October: 131 & Counting hosted a "Women Congressional Staff and Women in Public Policy Retreat." The retreat will bring together women congressional staff and women policy professionals to discuss insights into organizational diversity on and off the Hill; the proliferation of women owned-firms and contractors; and navigate how gender matters in policy areas once mostly exclusive to men.
